Back in July 2014 I applied for a position with the Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP), which was founded in 2012 as a public-private collaboration with SEED Global Health, Peace Corps, and PEPFAR. The goal of the program is to send physicians and nurses abroad to serve as clinical educators.

I am excited to share that I will be moving to Tanzania for one year as a volunteer with GHSP this July. The GHSP program is unique in that the primary aim is clinical education of native health care providers. By contributing to quality health care training, we will be able to build more sustainable health care systems.

So beginning this summer, I will start a new adventure. I will be traveling back to Tanzania; however, this time I will be just south of Lake Victoria. I will be working at Sengerema Designated District Hospital.

Sengerema Designated District Hospital was founded in 1985. It is part of a training network which includes Bugando Medical Centre (BMC), founded in 1971. BMC is a consultant and teaching hospital for the western zones of Tanzania. It offers three nursing programs; a Bachelors of Nursing Education at BMC, a Bachelors of Science in Nursing Education at Catholic University of Health and Allied Science (CUHAS), and a Diploma of Nursing at BMC.
